Professor Sally Mapstone is new Principal of University of St Andrews

She was chosen after an exhaustive international search to replace Louise Richardson


Professor Sally Mapstone, who is currently the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education at the University of Oxford, will be the next Principal of the University of St Andrews.

Previously in her career, she has been a distinguished scholar who designed Oxford’s strategic plan and who has supported curriculum diversification and widening participation, and who has focused on Older Scots Literature in her research.

Professor Mapstone was unanimously chosen by the members of the Selection Committee formally approved at the University Court during the weekend, and further announcements will be made to the media today. She will officially take her position in St Andrews this September.
