Calling all cat lovers: a cat cafe is opening in Sheffield

Are you feline excited?

Sheffield is set to have it’s very own cat cafe opening in the spring.

Following on from the trend which has swept over the world over the last few years, Sheffield will feline-ally have it’s own cafe filled with moggies to go and pet.

“Tabby Teas” is set to open on Cemetery Road, near to Ecclesall Road, with the owners tweeting a picture of the new sign earlier this week.

The cafes are “kitty-ed” out like a normal cafe, but have cats there which you can cuddle and stroke whilst you tuck into a coffee.

Devon was the first place in the UK to open a cat cafe in 2013, but since then they have grown in popularity, with similar cafes opening in Manchester, Newcastle and Bristol. However, not everyone is a fan of the novel concept, with charities like the RSPCA criticising the cafes for keeping large numbers of cats in confined spaces.

We think it will be the purr-fect place to go in between lectures.
