Sheffield named as one of UK’s ‘hipster hotspots’

Move over Bristol and Manchester

Yes, you read that right.

Sheffield has been named as one of the UK’s Hipster Hotspots according to property website Zoopla.

The website looked closely at property prices along Ecclesall Road in the city, and found that rising house prices in the up-and-coming area had created a “hipster haven”.

Ecclesall Road is home to a micro-brewery, an American diner restaurant and the oh-so-famous “Hunter’s Bar” roundabout, so it’s no wonder it has been named as a paradise for hipsters moving to the area.

However, it’s not good news for those students hoping to live in these parts once they’ve graduated. Since 2001, house prices are said to have risen by 25%, with the average house costing more than £300,000 to buy.

Whilst many would consider popular Hipster Hotspots to be in trendier parts of England, such as Manchester’s Northern Quarter or London’s Brick Lane, it goes to show that Sheffield also has a lot to offer for our beard-wearing, ale drinking, man-bun sporting citizens.

Zoopla blamed the vast increase in house prices on gentrification of the area.
