Sheffield first year killed in car crash

Her boyfriend was also ‘seriously injured’


A music fresher was killed on Friday when a car veered off the road and ran over her and her boyfriend.

The horrifying crash happened in the Mapperley area of Nottingham at around 12:35pm on Friday afternoon.

Bryony Hollands, 19, from Berkshire, was taken to the Queens Medical Centre where she sadly died a short time later.

She would have been starting her second year of uni in September.

Bryony was walking with boyfriend 20-year-old Ben Evans, who is seriously injured and remains in hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to King’s Mill Hospital with minor injuries.

A 26-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

A spokesperson from Nottinghamshire Police said: “One person has died and another has been seriously injured following a crash in the Woodthorpe area of Nottingham.

“The incident involved a Mercedes car and two pedestrians. The driver of the vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.”
