Chemistry department leak prelims results, again

The university has been accused of ‘serious incompetence’

Oxford’s Chemistry department has come under fire after sending out a list of students who failed their exams to their fellow pupils. Twice.

The department circulated a file to second-year undergrads on two occasions in the past three months, disclosing the name, college, and number of exams failed of everyone in their year. The file was sent as an attachment to all 189 second year Chemistry students in October, and again a few days ago, disclosing that 14 of their year group had failed some of their prelims. Staff then quickly asked students to “please delete the email previously sent out as it contained inaccuracies”. The university has apologised for the “unfortunate mistake”, adding that it has “taken steps to improve their processes so that similar mistakes are avoided in future”.

Anyone know any jokes about sodium? Na

In an interview with The Telegraph, a second year Chemistry student said it was a “totally inappropriate breach of privacy. The fact that they’ve made the same mistake twice despite being made aware of it the first time shows how little they cared about it, since they clearly took no measures to prevent it from happening again. But it’s also a painful reminder of how useless the department is.”
