Oxford soars up to second in THE world rankings

Beating Cambridge for the fifth year running

Oxford is the best place to go to uni in the UK.

The 12th edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings has been released for the year 2015-16, placing Oxford as the 2nd best university in the world.

For the fifth year running Oxford beats Cambridge to the position of top UK university in the rankings.

The THE World University Rankings are based on the opinions of thousands of leading academics, judging universities across all of their “core missions”; teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

The ranking covers 70 countries across the world, with new additions this year including Ghana, Latvia and Qatar.

Despite rising from 5th in the year 2014-15, Cambridge sits at a miserable 4th, presumably deeply contemplating its fate with a cigarette and a bottle of port, lamenting how it will never be as good as Oxford.

Imperial College London comes in at 8th and UCL at 14th, with 34 UK institutions coming in the top 200.

Despite losing out to Cambridge in the QS World University Rankings, Oxford has rightly claimed its spot as the leading UK university.

Its students rejoice in the streets, drunk with joy. Or is that just Freshers starting?
