Blood on Magdalen Bridge

Police called after reports of mystery pool of blood with footprints leading away from it.

A mystery pool of blood found on Magdalen Bridge has sparked a police hunt for an injury victim.

The blood – with bloody footprints leading away from it – was found around Magdalen tower and the punt station this morning, and the area is now cordoned off.

Blood was found on the Bridge this morning

A Police spokesman told the Tab: “Police were called at 8.04 this morning to Magdalen bridge after reports of blood on the bridge. They are investigating to find anyone injured.”

The scene, where one might usually expect to see tourists and punts alike floating in the Cherwell, is currently taped off, with a policeman standing guard, and a police van parked in front of him.

In other, possibly related news, rumours are abounding the city of a suicide from Carfax Tower last night, as well as blood spattered about the streets, concentrated on Queen’s Lane and by St Edmund Hall.

Rowers passing St Edmund Hall at 5.30 this morning remarked on a huge pool of what they thought was red wine but now believe to be blood.

The Tab awaits more information on events.
