Everything that’s going on in Norwich this Halloween
Things are gonna get freaky
Nobody quite understands how Halloween developed from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain into one of the filthiest seshes on the calendar, but nobody cares either. Halloween is looking mad in Norwich this year, with events happening all weekend long, both on campus and in the city. Here’s is a list of some unmissable nights.
Friday, October 28th
Propaganda Norwich Spooktacular
Granted, it is a whole three days before Halloween, but with a Facebook event that promises ‘The Joker, Nurses, Werewolves, Ghosts and Corpse Brides’, The Waterfront is clearly the premier (and quite possibly the only) event in the city next Friday night.
Pams House Halloween Horror Story Freakshow
Pams House makes its long-awaited return to the LCR, bringing hard-dance heavyweights LAB4, Mark Eg and Max Mozart to Norwich.
Saturday, October 29th
Mercy’s Playground: Halloween Special
Whilst the poorly worded Facebook event promises that it will be ‘the night the freaks make the night their Playground and celebrate Halloween’ (no idea), Mercy XS is looking mad for the Saturday of Halloween weekend. The guestlist is already full, so ensure you arrive early to make sure you don’t end up in the depressing mile-long queue down Prince of Wales.
With ‘spooktactular cocktails and drinks offers’ and ‘playing the best of Indie, Rock Pop & Alternative Dance’, Meltdown at The Waterfront is the place for you if Mercy doesn’t sound appealing.
Norwich’s supreme LGBT venue is holding a range of events across the weekend, but this one sounds unmissable, promising a ‘prom disco themed venue with a Halloween twist’.
Sunday, October 30th
Who goes out on a Sunday? Surely nobody is that loose.
Monday, October 31st
Signal presents Halloween All Nighter
Norwich’s newest club night, Signal, has gone from strength to strength since launching at the Crypt a few weeks ago. For Halloween this year they are running an all-night event at Karma Kafe, spread across three floors. Playing everything from grime, DnB and garage, to soul, motown and even reggae, this is the reason I’ll be missing my 9am on Tuesday (sorry, Peter).
The UEA Halloween Fright Night
This is the big one. Arguably the biggest LCR night of the year, the event invites us to come together for ‘apple bobbing, trick or treats, hanging donuts and more’, although smashing down VKs on a MONDAY should be enough to draw most people in.
