How to dress for every club in Norwich

Body cons at Karma Kafe are a no-go

Freshers’ week passed in a whirl – your memories of all the different clubs have blurred into one indistinctive smoking area and now you can’t remember which nights you actually enjoyed.

You’re stuck wondering where to go, and most importantly, what to wear  to find your crowd in Norwich.

Prince of Wales may not exactly be the fashion capital of the UK, but that doesn’t mean you can wear anything. Oh no, darling, there are rules round here regarding what’s acceptable – and we’re here to help you.

Propaganda at The Waterfront

Friday night crowds are mostly students at the Waterfront, making it the perfect opportunity to show off your best garms and make people realise just how cool and edgy you are.

The music is alternative and indie-rock so think check shirts, DMs, and band tees. It also gives you an opportunity to tell everyone in the smoking area about the time Alex Turner looked you right in the eye while singing Do I Wanna Know? at Reading and how it was the most spiritual moment of self-realisation you’ve ever experienced.

You better still have your festival wristbands from the past five summers on as well, as they make great conversation starters here.

Mantra

If you’re into chart music or maybe you have a weak spot for Sean Paul, Mantra is destined to be your second home whilst at uni. The only place in Norwich where it’s acceptable to wear heels, Thursdays at Mantra are the closest you’re going to get to a night out you can get properly dolled up for.

Ladies, think body cons galore. Gents, any T-shirt with a degrading picture of a woman on will do, or even a proper shirt if you’re feeling extra suave.

Karma Kafe

The perfect place for people who think they’re “too cool” for the rest of the nightlife in Norwich.

Since the closure of Hideout (RIP) it’s become the watering hole for hipsters and two-steppers alike, making it the perfect opportunity to whack out that festival wardrobe which otherwise wouldn’t see the light of day until next summer.

#Waveygarmz galore, complete with a rollie and a can of Red Stripe. Perfect.

Mercy XS

Mercy is all about looking effortlessly cool: a co-ord or crop top and skirt combo is ideal for girls and a slogan top for guys will get you on the right level of vibes.

Crep game is always strong too, especially on their house nights, so make sure your footwear is on point.

The LCR

The LCR isn’t about fashion – it’s not about how cool you look, or how strong your trainer game is. The LCR is all accepting.

Come as you are, children. The LCR is love. The LCR is life.
