Northumbria celebrates 60 years of fashion futures

Backstage at the Baltic for the region’s biggest catwalk event

Northumbria took centre stage at the Baltic last week for its annual Graduate Fashion Show, presenting the best of its fashion forward talents.

Industry experts watched in awe as 58 of Northumbria’s Fashion Design grads showcased their creativity with perfectly preened models gracing the catwalk.

The annual event hosted at the Gateshead gallery last Wednesday marks the 60th anniversary of Northumbria fashion, and housed some of the biggest names in the industry including designer Henry Holland and Vogue Magazine’s very own, Laura Weir.

Panellists were on hand to decide which of the best collections would be chosen to represent the region at London Fashion Week at the end of this month.

And that’s not all, the anniversary celebrations continued long into the night with a drinks reception and a commemorative dinner at the Baltic where guests viewed catwalk images from the last 60 years to mark the special occasion.

Here’s to Northumbria’s budding fashion designers.
