Radio 1 to help pick new Exec song

Please God no

After two years, you would have thought we’d have given up trying to re-live the fame of 2013.

Freshers who experienced the LSU Exec song first hand are now finalists. Surely freshers of 2016 just won’t get the hype?

This afternoon on the Scott Mills show, Scott and Chris responded to an email from the oncoming Media EO, Jennifer ‘Jen’ ‘JT’ Taylor who’s asked them for help in making next year’s LSU Exec song.

In 2013, a song by the LSU Exec team went viral. A cover of Naughty Boy’s La La La’, but trying to sell the Union to future students, it’s been described as the worst YouTube video ever.

In 2014 the exec team attempted to redo Rather Be by Clean Bandit which was a flop.

Chris & Scott are well known to the students of Loughborough, having played as individual DJs and at last year’s Freshers FND as a duo named ‘No Harm Done’. As part of their most recent trip they appeared in the intro to 2015 Exec video, but that video also flopped.

Trying to copy the success of Naughty Boy video just hasn’t worked. Is it time to change tact? The boys think we’ve lost touch but don’t think we’re beyond saving.

For 2016 Scott Mills and the Radio 1 team have offered to get the public involved. Taking ‘Work’ by Rihanna (feat. Drake), the new team will record their version and have Radio 1 see what people think. If it’s good, that’ll become the LSU Exec song for 2016. If not, it’s back to square one and the Exec will have to try again.

The show is available on iPlayer with the segment starting at 02:20:00.
