Arriva North West Buses announced a ticket price rise for their Merseyside services on Saturday, tweeting out an updated price list.

From yesterday, adult ‘flat fare’ tickets (single trips) now cost £2.30, up 10p from their previous cost of £2.20. Arriva adult tickets are now 30p more expensive than the equivalent Stagecoach fare.

Although student tickets weren’t mentioned in the price update, an Arriva North West customer service twitter account confirmed to The Tab that student prices would not be rising, and remain at £1.80 for a ‘flat flare’ ticket.

Other ticket prices to go up include the Young Person ticket , which will now cost £1.20. A Southport zone weekly ticket will be £16 (a 50p rise). No changes have been announced for the Liverpool Plus and Wirral Day tickets, the Arriva My Ticket or the Merseyside Weekly Ticket. Scousers were critical of the changes, with Eli Parry commenting on the Arriva facebook announcement, saying “For such a consistently inconsistent service, you really do like upping your prices.”

Danny O’Brien commented: “Should change ya name to rip off Arriva. Are the owners tories?”
