Toxteth has been transformed into 1920s Birmingham for the filming of Peaky Blinders Series 4 this week, with Kinmel Street, South Street, and Powis Street being redecorated for filming.  Vintage adverts, retro cars and horse and carts have been seen in the area, as well as the cast of Peaky Blinders including Cillian Murphy, who plays Thomas Shelby. Yes, that’s right, Thomas Shelby is in town and only a 6 minute drive away from Smithdown Road ASDA, ladies.

Filming for series 4 started this month, after it was confirmed the drama would be continued last autumn. In past series, Croxteth Hall , Seacombe Ferry Terminal and Stanley Dock have all been used as filming locations.

The drama is based upon the exploits of the Peaky Blinders gang in Birmingham after the First World War. Although set in Birmingham, large parts of the filming for all the series has taken place in the terraced houses of Liverpool. The show has won two BAFTAs.
