Connie Compton-StewartToday around lunch time fire services were called to Rudy’s Barbers, located opposite Brookdale Road.
Fireman Tom Wheat, told The Tab: “We’ve got a barber shop that’s open today, they’ve had a fire within the basement. Customers were inside and they all evacuated before our arrival by themselves.
“We’ve simply gone in with multiple crews with multiple firefighting media and extinguished the fire. We’ll stay on scene for the minute quite simply to preserve it and we’ve got our investigation team which will deal with the fire investigation and find the cause.”
He went on to confirm “everyone’s out fine, no one’s reported injured and everyone’s fit and well.”
Ali Bonnon, Economics and Marketing student and University of Liverpool told the Tab “It’s weird that it started in the basement, but at least nobody was hurt.”
Firemen will remain at the scene for another half hour to preserve it for fire investigations who will then decide the cause.
