Get out those gym clothes that you haven’t touched since your New Years resolution to get fit and get ready for the inaugural Health and Wellbeing Week!

Starting Monday the 9th of May, the uni’s Health and Wellbeing week will be offering lots of free activities to help students keep fit both mentally and physically throughout revision. There is also a pledge for the week which aims to give up a bad habit or improve your fitness.

The Guild is working with both the University and the Sarms Sport nutritionists to offer an multitude of opportunities for some productive procrastination during this stressful period of the year.

They’re advertising the “highlight of the week” as the Danceathon in Mountford on Thursday from 12 until 2pm. A trio of dance avengers (Dance, Street, and Salsa) are assembling to lead an event where you can grab a glowstick and have an energetic dance workout.

If Dancing isn’t your thing there will be free swimming from 7am to 6:30pm in the Sports Centre, badminton and squash sessions, a campus 5km run (which you can sign up for here), as well as conventional types of exercise. If that’s not enough there will also be combat class, water sports, and a ‘mood gym’ on offer.

Friday the 13th will finally be a day to look forward to as cyclists can cash in on a free healthy breakfast and the bike doctor will be on hand to check if your bike is in good shape.

During the event, RAG and the Mental Health Society will be fundraising for MIND, the mental health charity. There will also be craft and relaxation activities on Wednesday between 11am-2pm in the Guild Street if sport doesn’t take your fancy.

Everything but the water sports are completely free and open to everyone.  Check the full events programme here!
