You can raise money for the homeless by eating breakfast

It’s called the Big Boss Brekkie Week

The Whitechapel Centre for helping the homeless and Independent Liverpool have teamed up with a new, delicious way to raise money for Merseyside’s rough sleepers.

The campaign encourages people all over Liverpool to cook up a big, hearty breakfast for friends and family and ask them for a donation that will go towards feeding the homeless.

The Big Boss Brekkie Week takes place from 20th-26th June and all donations will go towards the Whitechapel Centre to provide breakfast for those most in need.

Second year English student and Vice President of Help the Homeless society Beth Meadows told us: “I think the collaboration between two of Liverpool’s greatest institutions, the Whitechapel Centre and Independent Liverpool, is another shining example of how compassionate this city is.

“This is a great campaign to raise awareness for and feed the rough sleepers in Liverpool.”

Additionally, many of Liverpool’s independent cafes and eateries will be encouraged to join in so that a percentage of what you’ve paid for a breakfast there will go to Whitechapel.

So good in so many ways

Third year Geology student Luke Simmons said: “What an incredible idea, a great sense of community spirit to help and support those in need and exactly what you expect in Liverpool.”

Not only will the campaign provide food for the homeless, but it will also encourage more rough sleepers in Liverpool to engage with the Whitechapel Centre and ultimately get more people indoors and off the street.
