After years of mediocre Welcome Weeks, the Guild have finally bagged some decent acts in what’s looking like the best Freshers’ Week yet.

In a slick video, the Guild have announced drum and bass pro Sub Focus to headline the ball, along with other performances from Wilkinson, The Pigeon Detectives and Jaguar Skills.

There’s even a paint party with Danny Jones of McBusted, and a night of comedy with Sean Walsh.

Student Fest is also another big event during Freshers’ Week

The legendary Guild have also made room for some down time, with a screening of Jurassic Park and a big quiz. How’s that to cure your booming hangover?

Branded as the “mother of all events”, the Welcome Ball is set to be a huge night.

Pharmacology Student Rob was fairly pleased with the reveal.

He told The Tab: “I think the acts have improved over the years. For our freshers in 2013, the headline act for the Welcome Ball was Nick Grimshaw and I don’t think many people went to go see him.

“I think the acts this year will be quite popular.”

No fear if Sub Focus isn’t your thang, as there will be loads to keep you occupied.

The Guild said: “As well as top acts, come and join our Silent Disco in the Courtyard.

“We’ll also have plenty of other entertainment –– from stilt walkers to fire eaters to name a few.”

Second year student Nicki wasn’t as pleased by the line up.

She said: “I was a bit disappointed at first because I thought there’d be at least another big name on there, but I reckon Wilkinson will be a really decent night.”

The fun begins Saturday 19th September through to the following Sunday, with the Welcome Ball on Saturday 26th.

Entry to the Welcome Ball is free with your wristband, or £18 on the door. Tickets are on sale from 13th August via the Guild website.
