The best independent lunch spots in Leicester

Fed up of queueing for what feels like hours waiting for a panini that has cost as much as a weeks rent? Tired of going to grab a meal-deal and being faced with a fridge full of sad looking egg-mayo sandwiches?

Deli Flavour  

Deli flavour is the best cosy spot to meet up with friends and have a light lunch. The menu has loads of great options and the staff are always great at recommending something if you just can’t make up your mind. They even have a selection of retro games consoles that you can play on whilst you’re waiting for your food to arrive.

They have recently opened up another shop on the bottom floor of The Silver Arcade for even more deli good-ness.

Dolce Verde

The team at Dolce Verde describe themselves as ‘coffee geeks’ – and rightly so, their coffee is amazing. As well as offering hot drinks, the café also has a delicious lunch/brunch menu.

The chic minimalist décor makes it super chilled – the perfect place to sit with your laptop and some smoked salmon and poached eggs on sourdough toast.

Delilah Fine Foods

From the outside, Delilah Fine Foods might just look like a posh deli but if you venture inside they have a selection of sandwiches, platters and cakes at their food bar and café for very reasonable prices. The food bar is a really relaxed place to grab a bite to eat.

Warning – you will be tempted to try at least one of the amazing cakes they have displayed behind the bar! They also offer free coffee refills for students… Need I say more?

Kai

Tucked away in St Martins Square, Kai is a new addition to the area. If you love pancakes then this is the best place to go for a lunchtime treat. The mixed berry, bananas and maple syrup pancakes are amazing!
