Fresher refused entry by Ghost bouncers ‘because he was black’

They allegedly told him the club had a ‘quota’ for how many black people were allowed in

A group of Leicester freshers claim they were barred from a nightclub because some of them were BLACK.

Economics fresher Kosi Orah was out with friends celebrating his 19th birthday in the early hours of Sunday morning.

But when he queued for Ghost nightclub, he was confronted by bouncers who refused to let him in.

In a shocking voice recording one of the friends can be heard asking the bouncer: “Is it because I’m black?”.

The bouncer replies: “That’s what I’m saying, if it was my club I wouldn’t have no problem but it isn’t”.

The group of revellers, which included both black and white students, were stunned. Essex born Kosi told The Sun: “We were having a good time but we weren’t lairy.

“We were confused because we were well-dressed, had our IDs and weren’t drunk.”

Kosi documented the conversation between the students and the bouncer on his phone. In the recording, one of the group members is heard asking “Is it because I’m black?”. The bouncer answers “That’s what I’m saying, if it was my club I wouldn’t have no problem but it isn’t”.

Kosi then repeats the same question his friend asked and the bouncer replies  “That’s why I want to tell you straight lads, I’m not going to dick around with you”.

Kosi claims that the bouncer told him: “It’s not me but there is a quota of the amount of black people allowed in the club”.

Seemingly just following orders, Kosi says the bouncer was “almost apologetic”.

The first year, who intends to work in asset management, told The Sun: “It was like the kind of incident you heard about happening in parts of America in 1960’s.”

Kosi filed a police statement against the club alleging the incident was a hate crime.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the club said: “We feel very strongly that racism has no part in the night-time economy and we feel that this security employee has acted out of character.

“The individual has now been suspended and we are conducting our own investigation. It is not our policy to deny any customer entrance based on race or ethnicity.”

Police have confirmed the incident is being treated as racist and enquiries are ongoing.
