A Leeds graduate was run over and killed by burglars in his own car

The car has since been found in Fallowfield

University of Leeds graduate Mike Samwell suffered fatal injuries after attempting to confront the intruders who had broken into his home at 3am this morning (23rd April) while he was asleep upstairs with his wife Jessica.

He was found gravely injured in a parking area at the rear of the house and died an hour later in hospital.

The police believe that he was run over at least once as he tried to prevent the intruder(s) from escaping in his car, a black Audi S3 sports coupe.

Detective Superintendent Jon Chadwick stated: “This is the murder of an innocent man who has merely sought to protect his property from criminals,” and that: “We will not stop until we have found the person responsible for this dreadful crime.”

Mike Samwell’s car was later found badly damaged and abandoned three miles away. His killer or killers are still on the run and a murder investigation has been launched.
