Leeds is the third happiest city in the UK

Is anyone really surprised?

It’s official, Leeds has been voted the third happiest city in the UK.

Gaming website GalaBingo.com recently surveyed over 2,000 people to discover how people rate happiness and what improves mood. The percentage of residents with a happiness rating of seven or more were Newcastle at 72%, Sheffield at 69% and Leeds in third place with 66%.

The happiness rating was attributed to the following pastimes: spending time with family (46%); going on holiday (34%); eating favourite foods (25%); socialising with friends (24%); relaxing (23%); watching TV (22%); sleeping (22%); shopping (16%); reading (15%); and, going outside (14%).

It’s not surprising then that people are happy in Leeds considering the wealth of activity and opportunity it has to offer. With the largest growth in the independent food and drink sector combined with Trinity, Victoria Gate and a refurbished Merrion to make Leeds the UK’s third retail destination, it’s clear that Leeds has a lot to offer.
