King’s has been ranked in the top one per cent of unis in the world

And top ten in the UK

According to a new list by the Centre for World University Rankings, King’s is the seventh best uni in the UK. Beaten only by a handful of unis like Oxbridge, UCL and Manchester we’re sitting pretty near the top of a 25,000 strong table of degree awarding institutions.

Aside from being top ten in the UK, we were also ranked 92nd in the world, putting us firmly in the top 0.25 per cent of the world’s unis.

The ranking takes into account the usual list of factors including quality of teaching, alumni employment and academic citations as well as a score for “broad impact”.

This puts us ahead of Southampton, Leeds, Sheffield and pretty much every other uni in the world. Meanwhile, across town,  Queen Mary’s just about scraped into the top 200, landing at a less than respectable 199.

Earlier this year, QS ranked UCL the best uni in the world for education and the 11th best place to study medicine
