A man has died after falling from a window near Central Station

It happened shortly after 11am

An unidentified man has died after allegedly jumping from a window near Glasgow Central Station, shortly after 11am today.

As a result both ends of Gordon Street were cordoned off after emergency services were called to the scene just after 11am. The man, who was in contact with the police immediately before he fell, landed on a table in Glasgow’s busy Gordon Street.

The man who is said to have been naked fell from a window of the Grand Central Hotel which adjoins the train station.

Network Rail confirmed that the main station entrance would remain closed this evening before advising passengers to use the station’s three other entrances on Union Street, Hope Street and Argyle Street.

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service will now investigate the police response to the incident and a spokeswoman for the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner confirmed: “A report on the commissioners findings will be submitted in due course.”
