Man charged with attempted murder after Sunday night’s stabbing

The victim is in a stable condition in hospital

A man has been charged with attempted murder after the stabbing of a 30-year-old man on Leighton Terrace on Sunday evening.

This morning, Devon Police said: “A man in connection with a stabbing in Exeter on Sunday the 15th of January has been charged.”

The man charged has been named as Richard Grant, also known as ‘Pyle’, aged 46 from Exeter.

A 30-year-old man received “multiple stab wounds” and was found on the floor on Leighton Terrace at 9:50pm.

He was treated by an off-duty paramedic, who told the Express and Echo it was the most severe stabbing injury she’d ever encountered.

A manhunt was triggered, with a helicopter flying over the city, before being caught at around 11:30pm hiding in the forest by the University.

Grant is due to appear before Exeter Magistrates court today.

The victim is now in a stable condition in hospital.
