Male rights maverick submits petition for the Guild to create a Men’s Rep

‘Self-defining men need a voice on campus’

A maverick male rights campaigner has submitted to the Guild a proposal to create a men’s representative position.

The submission  cited “a number of issues that have been creeping up in recent years”.

Exeter’s Guild does not currently have a Women’s Officer.

The petition was received comically and met with a series of derisory comments which included: “The sexually frustrated neckbeard is strong with this one” and “I’m going to give the proposer the benefit of the doubt and say that this is purely satirical.”

A counter-proposition to bottle and sell the tears of Men’s Rights Activists was then tabled.

‘Price should be in line with current gender pay gap’

Some people did appear to be taking the argument seriously and provided long and thoughtful comments.

Some people gave comments praising the idea: “Fully in favour of this idea, great initiative.

People are quite passionate about the idea with over 200 votes being cast in total, and over 100 on the rival “bottled tears” idea.

Past ideas have received far fewer votes, such as a free NUS extra cards for all Exeter students (fewer than 50).

The Men’s Rep was, however, voted down by a resounding 71.8 per cent of people.
