Update: A man has been arrested over the New Town murder

He will appear in court next week

A 28-year-old man has been arrested today in connection with the New Town murder that took place two nights ago.

The police have been searching for a suspect since the body, found at around 5.30am on the 2nd December, was said to have sustained significant injuries under suspicious circumstances.

The police were called to the property on Scotland Street after several phone calls from neighbours reported “disturbances”.

The victim, who has since undergone a post-mortem, is still yet to be identified but, according to Police Scotland, appears to be in his early thirties.

The 28-year-old suspect will appear in Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday 5 December.
