With deadlines looming and coursework burying Durham’s students under, it seems only fitting that we take time out of our day to treat ourselves with some delicious dinners and scrumptious snacks!

Here’s a look into some of the best saver menus in town and student deals that could brighten up the summative season!

Tango

Tango, the crown jewels of Durham’s burger scene, have introduced their brand new saver lunch menu this term! Get a banging burger for as little as £4.95, or if you’re feeling like a meal deal add some fries and a drink for a steal at £9.95!

Also don’t forget to use your 20% student discount for meals before 6pm (excluding weekends).

Chiquito

Grab your sombrero and get down to Chiquito soon, when ordering 2 main meals from the menu this diner gives students 25% off, definitely worth it for your spicy Mexican fix!

Urban Oven

The notorious 2-for-1 pizza offer here is available on both Mondays and Tuesdays, but what people don’t know is about their Wicked Wednesday deal: buy any two large pizzas and get a third absolutely free. Failing that just go at 2am after your wednesday night out!

Fat Hippo

What time is it? It’s Hippo Hour! Every Monday to Friday between 5-6pm you can get 1 course for £8.50, 2 courses for £10.90 and even 3 courses for £12.90 – a hungry hippo’s heaven!

Nudo Sushi

Check out the Japanese bento box bonanza on North Road that is Nudo Sushi! For Durham’s sushi addicts this place has it all, including a loyalty card that gives out quite a lot of freebies for the chopstick able.

Be sure to go after 6pm though as selected dishes are 50% off!

InShanghai

Two words: Chinese Buffet.

This place has a student discount of 10% every day (except Saturdays) with a valid NUS card and offers some crazy buffet deals for the extra hungry customer.

The Lunch Buffet is a steal at £6.90 between 11:30am-5:30pm (although you have to pay and vacate the table by 5:45pm) with the Grand Buffet between 6pm-10pm at only £12.50 for an all you can eat sesh!

Krispy Kreme

Most definitely the world’s favourite doughnut joint! With Krispy Kreme’s 20% NUS card discount you can’t say no to their £2.80 deal for a doughnut-coffee-combo!

Zen

Although Zen is most definitely one of Durham’s more expensive and luxurious diners it offers students a 10% discount, to soften the blow when splashing out!

Ciaociao

This Mediterranean cafe is a Durham gem, offering the early bird student a £2.50 breakfast deal that’ll kick start their day, with the choice of either a bacon or mature cheddar cheese tomato sandwich alongside either a coffee or tea. Not to mention a permanent 10% student discount.

Zizzi

Zizzi and the NUS card have a smashing deal for the pizza pasta parties we all need every once in a while. 40% off every Monday and Tuesday, then 25% off on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday!

Failing that there is almost always a 30% off voucher here.

Sweet Tooth

For those moments of weakness when you fancy something sweet this is the place to go, although if you fancy ordering online you can get 20% off your first and fifth order when signing up here.

The Library

The ultimate chicken wing lover’s deal. Every Wednesday get wings at just 25p a piece, on an unlimited number! Definitely needed after game day or a tough training session.

Nadon Thai

Although quite expensive in the evenings this Thai restaurant offers an affordable lunch menu with a wide range of food on offer including everyone’s fave Pad Thai. Prices come in at £6.95 for 1 course and £8.95 for two!

But if you do fancy a later meal try and catch their Happy Hour, between 5:30-6:30pm. With 1 course for £7.50 and 2 courses for £10.95.

Pret A Manger 

Show your student card and get 10% off – it may sound small but it definitely all adds up!

Lebaneat

Between 12-5pm this Lebanese lounge offers both a Starter & Wrap option for £7.99 and a Starter & Main for £9.99!

Bills:

According to UniDays Bill’s offers a 20% discount for students from Sundays to Thursdays.

Try and check out their lunch menu too though, with 2 courses for £10.95 and 3 courses for £12.95 it makes for a great meal out.

Cellar Door

Although it is obvious that everyone waits for Mummy and Daddy to come up and take them here, if you were to fancy a posh meal here for a smaller (but still not cheap) price, check out their lunch menu: with 2 courses for £15 and 3 for £18!

Bella Italia:

No need for any codes here, just ask for their special student menu and you can get 50% off pizza and pasta! Also if you fancy a bev they offer 2 cocktails for the price of 1. This is available Sunday through to Thursday, with a valid student or NUS card.

Akarsu Turkish Restaurant:

The new restaurant that everyone is talking about seems to have the KING of all lunch menus. With 2 starters, 1 main course and a soft drink coming to a generous £10.95 you’ll definitely be full!

Ask Italian:

Tucked away by LoveShack people often forget about this Italian, but similarly to Pizza Express and Zizzis this restaurant offers NUS card holders 40% off on Mondays and Tuesday then 25% on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Also if you do a collect take away add the code “Take20” onto your bill or say it over the phone for 20% off!

Patrick’s Pizza:

Aka Paddys. Has a BOGOF offer on both Mondays and Tuesdays for pizza.

Capriccio:

On top of this cute cafe lies a sweet little restaurant that offers some sweet deals too, with 2 courses for £9.95 or even any pizza or pasta option for £4.95.

Pizza Express

Once again, NUS deals are in abundance here. Get 40% off on Mondays and Tuesdays, or 20% off on Wednesdays.
