Durham third year exits Great British Bake Off

Michael is toast

Michael Georgiou, a Van Mildert third year, was sadly voted off last night’s episode of the Great British Bake Off after failing to impress judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.

He placed seventh out of ten in the technical challenge and his showstopper bread bake was described as “a mess”.

At only 20, the Politics and Economics student was the show’s youngest contestant but his Cypriot based bread was not enough to secure a place in the fourth round of the competition.

In week one, Michael’s Matcha Tea showstopper left Mary Berry unimpressed, which she described as “tasting grassy”.

Michael took to Twitter last night to thank his supporters saying: “Thank you for the kind messages. Was an incredible experience and enjoyed every moment of it”.
