Love at the Libary: Tab blind dates

It’s not quite the Isle of Fernandos, but it’s alright

On the first of our regular blind dates feature, Hector, a NatSci student from Collingwood, meets Isobel, a Classics student from Josephine Butler.

And where else to find love than at the Library, Durham’s favourite pre-Jimmy’s-pre-Klute establishment. We gave them some free food and free wine and played Cupid.

Hector

What do you look for in a partner?

Someone that can hold a conversation, and I can have a good laugh with.

What were your first impressions?

Pretty, well dressed, and had good chat.

What did you talk about?

Travel, family, The Tab, post uni plans, The Exiles, and gay bars?!

Any awkward moments?

It was kind of weird having someone from The Tab watching us and taking photos throughout the date. Also, she said usually goes to Klute on a night out.

Best thing about them?

Good sense of humour.

Would you introduce her to your friends?

Absolutely

Would you want to go on a second date?

We actually had to go on a second date because we were both too hungover on the first one. So would I go on a third date? Maybe, but third date is relationship territory. I’ll have to have a think about that!

It’s too late now Hector…

Isobel

What do you look for in a partner?

A good sense of humour and intelligence.

What were your first impressions?

Polite and well dressed.

What did you talk about?

Travelling, living abroad, gay clubs in Newcastle, The Tab (obvs), gap year plans and a lot about skiing, even though I’ve never been.

Any awkward moments?

Only when I went on a rant about how annoying I found loud Australian accents only for him to announce that he lived there for 10 years. I think I handled the awkwardness well though.

Best thing about them?

I liked his hair.

Would you introduce him to your friends?

I don’t see why not.

Would you want to go on a second date?

It would technically be a third date because we were too hungover to actually talk on the first one. Date number three is a pretty risky thing and I don’t know if I can convey any more enthusiasm for skiing but who knows.
