Taly Court is one of the top 10 Uber destinations in Cardiff this year

Through data collected since launching a year ago today Uber has revealed their top ten destinations in Cardiff, with Taly Court being ranked one of the most popular destinations in the city.

Cardiff Central topped the list, helping those to and from the station to avoid lugging heavy cases as they trek across town.

St Mary Street and Greyfriars Road also made the top 10, ranking fourth and eighth respectively. With Walkabout Thursdays, Pryzm Fridays and a number of other clubs, bars and restaurants, it’s no surprise Ubers have frequently been called to these areas to take us home.

Taly Court was the only halls of residence on the list, ranking sixth most popular. With most Cardiff freshers living in Taly, stopping at Court avoids spending an extra few pounds to get to the North entrance. That money can be spent on an obligatory post night out Fattoush.

More than 75,000 people have booked cars with Uber during the past year in Cardiff. Cardiff was the first Welsh city to launch Uber in April 2016, and the app has been in demand ever since.

The service was in particularly high-demand during the Six Nations games. March 11th this year was the busiest day for Uber drivers in Cardiff, following the celebrations of Wales’ win over Ireland. The Welsh Varsity hosted in Cardiff was another major event for Uber.

Kieran Harte, the General Manager for Uber in Wales, said: “Cardiff was one of the most hotly anticipated cities we’ve ever launched in the UK and a year on we’ve done hundreds of thousands of trips in the Welsh capital.

“Both locals and visitors have come to depend on Uber to travel to and from public transport hubs and get home safely late at night.”

It’s no wonder that Uber has become so popular in Cardiff during the past year, after all who can be bothered to stagger back from Glam at 3am?
