Turns out, a USW graduate won an Oscar last night too

He was also awarded a BAFTA


Daniel Kemeys, a graduate from University of South Wales, won an Oscar last night.

He was part of the team awarded Best Visual Effects for The Jungle Book.

University of South Wales congratulated the digital compositor on Facebook, saying: “Oscar winner! A huge congratulations to USW Graduate Daniel Kemeys, who was part of the team who won the Best Visual Effects Oscar for The Jungle Book last night!”

The digital compositor recently won a BAFTA too.

Daniel has worked on numerous films, including Suicide Squad, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales and The Shallows.

A Cardiff University graduate also won an Oscar last night, for Netflix documentary ‘The White Helmets’.
