Government Takes Pints From Students

Cambridge’s 2014/15 freshers will be 28 pints worse off than you lot.

This year’s Cambridge freshers will be 28 pints better off than those starting in 2014/15.

Maintenance loans and grants for English students will rise by 1% for the 2014/15 uni intake, which is LESS than the rate of inflation.

The UK’s inflation rate is 2.7%, meaning that the maximum student loan for the average student in 2014/15 will be £5,555 – just £55 more than this year’s intake will get.

In total, students will be £93.50 shortchanged. With the average pint in Cambridge costing £3.30, this equates to:

• 28 pints

• 623 packets of Tesco Everyday Value Chicken Flavour Instant Noodles

• 93 Frusli bars (take note, Art Historians).
