Bristol ranked in the top 10 unis in the UK

New league table also ranks us 57th in the world


Bristol is the 57th best university in the world according to the Shanghai Rankings released this week.

The new league table published by the Academic Ranking of World Universities ranked Harvard as the best with Stanford picking up second place. Out of the UK institutions, Bristol came 8th, with Cambridge taking the top spot and 4th overall, followed by Oxford who were ranked 7th globally.

Bristol were also beaten by UCL (17th), Imperial (22nd), Manchester (35th), Edinburgh (41st) and King’s who came 50th. However, they were ranked ahead of other Russell Group universities such as Cardiff, Sheffield, Birmingham Leeds and Liverpool.

This year’s results show a slight improvement for Bristol, who came 66th last year. You can view the Shanghai rankings in full here.
