There are going to be 350 new study spaces on the Triangle

The uni are finally delivering some results

The university has finally started work on the long awaited Habitat building study space.

Set to open in Spring 2016, the new space, named Beacon House will have 350 study spaces, along with a cafe and a reception area.

The new building has set Bristol Uni back £12 million – an attempt to muffle previous complaints with cash.

Many will be happy to hear of this development, as many complained of freshers “stealing” their seats – a slightly UKIP-ish sentiment but a common one.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Guy Orpen is excited for other reasons.

“This is a really exciting project for the University as the building is in such a prime position, allowing us to not only provide vital study space but also to welcome in the public and showcase our success stories.”

This is the newest building site the University has created as part of a £200 million project to improve Bristol Uni’s teaching and research facilities.

George Robb, the leader of last years ASS protest movement, which demanded more study spaces for Humanities students, was reached for comment.

Beacon House, next to the Royal West of England Academy, was constructed in the 1850s and was formerly the Queen’s Hotel before being used for retail purposes – Gardiners in the 1930s, Debenhams after the war and more recently Habitat, which closed in 2011.
