Man accused of attacking Selly students is in court

Elvis Sidaway, aged 53, has appeared in Birmingham Magistrates’ Court accused of committing a series of sex attacks on students in Selly Oak.

Recently, women have been targeted in Selly Oak and on three occasions, their attacker hid their face with a mask.

Sidaway, of Fountain Road, Edgbaston, has been accused of one instance of rape on December 8 last year, seven charges of sexual assault between October last year and January, as well as three charges of knife possession.

Sidaway refused to speak except to reveal his name and address.

After a 20 minute hearing, Sidaway was placed in custody to appear before Birmingham City’s Crown Court on the 7th March.
