A body has been found in a car boot in Edgbaston

Police are treating the death as ‘suspicious’


Police are carrying out investigations after a body was discovered yesterday afternoon in Edgbaston.

A 33-year-old man was discovered in the boot of a Renault Clio on Portland Road at around 2pm.

The victim was named as Mr Tanveer Iqbal who owned the local music shop Hi-Tech.

He had been missing reported missing the evening before.

The car was parked on Portland Road in Edgbaston

Mr Iqubal was last seen was while closing his shop in Smethwick on Sunday evening.

Police say they are treating his death as suspicious, an swiftly began their investigation by cordoning off the area between City Road and the Ridgeway.

The vehicle in question is currently being subject to forensic examination.

Police say that they are keen to speak to any witnesses who may have seen Mr Iqbal between closing his shop in Smethwick on Sunday night and when he was discovered on Monday.

Due to ongoing forensic examinations Portland Road is likely to remain closed until later today.

Police say that they are “working around the clock to try and piece together events leading up to this man’s death.”
