Queen’s GAA have caused outrage after using an “unnecessary” cleavage shot of a female football player on the promotional poster for their fundraising event ‘County Colours’.

The poster, which shows a woman, has been accused of ‘objectification’ and ‘sexism’.

The poster also featured the logo of the Queen’s Student Union despite not having the Union’s permission.

The SU responded quickly, saying: “We apologise for any offense taken by the content of the GAA Club’s artwork.

“QUBSU did not approve this and we have  contacted the Club and requested that all marketing is to be removed as soon as possible.”

The ‘County Colours Night’ was to raise funds for all GAA clubs including the Camogie and Ladies Football teams.

Third year English and History student Sarah Byrne (who is also a woman) says: “I can’t say it bothered me that much. It’s a bit of an overreaction.

If it was a half naked man it would be a different story. Or wait, not even a story.”
