Aber is getting a puppy room during January exams

Exam stress and puppies go hand in hand (or paw), right?

In Aber anyone will tell you to “go for a walk” when exam stress gets to you but the more you hear that said to you the more you want to bury your face in fur and have a good cry, well that dream could soon become a reality. Bristol University have a puppy room to “aid relaxation and calmness” and it seems to downright excellent idea deemed by all students may be catching on in Aberystwyth!

Gordon Trevett, from Bristol University’s Centre for Sport, Exercise and Health, said: “Every year I see students fretting about their exams and I thought this would be a great way to ease the stress and take their minds off it. People with dogs have lower blood pressure in stressful situations than those without a dog and we know that playing with a dog can elevate levels of serotonin and dopamine, which calm and relax.”

Alpet Poundies Rescue will be visiting the Student Union (Picture house) on Wednesday 18th January (10:30am – 3pm) with some rescue dogs for the day to aid the exam stress, so put down your pens and prise yourself away from your postits and come for a cuddle and play fetch.

The charity ask for a voluntary donation as you exit which is a small price to pay for puppy time, everyone’s a winner!

The Su says: “We’re wagging our tails with excitement; we look paw-ward to seeing you there!” Check out the Facebook event.

One step towards getting a permanent puppy room maybe?
