University cleaners are wiping off the chalk drawings on campus

They’re part of SU election campaigns

The university has decided to power clean all the chalk drawings on the arts centre plaza today as it prepares for another Open Day tomorrow.

The chalk drawing depicting names of SU election candidates and slogans has been criticised by many as a cheap and ugly way of garnering attention for an electoral campaign.

Now the university staff have ordered cleaners to wipe all the scrawling on the bleachers and plaza from the public view.

Election candidates only have a budget of £40 for their campaign so it perhaps unsurprising some of them turn to this method for publicity.

But many students will be happy at this news as every year you w hear cries of “I’m only voting for the one whose name I don’t see plastered on the concrete”.
