He’s come a long way from Aberystwyth, but Hollywood hunk of the moment Taron Egerton insists it will always be his home.

The Welshman held an exclusive charity screening of his new blockbuster, Kingsman: The Secret Service, in the Arts Centre on campus last month.

The film, starring Colin Firth, Sir Michael Caine and Samuel L Jackson, has already made a staggering $57,526,274.65 in the box office.

All proceeds from the charity screening on February 18 were donated to Motor Neurone Disease Association, which Taron told us all was a special charity to him as he lost his grandmother to it in 2003.

With such an all star cast though, it was Taron who came all the way from London for one night only of boozing in Rummers and celebrating his Aberystwyth roots – a town that if it just disappeared off the map, he “would honestly not know what to do” with himself.

He has found it tough adjusting to his new found fame though, telling The Tab: “I grew up believing you are a sum of your own experiences and this place is me, this place is home. I don’t live in London, I live here.

“This is the sixth viewing, and it is becoming a bit like Chinese water torture.

“But to watch the film here with everyone else is just so different.

“Who gives a shit about Berlin and New York, it’s all about Aberystwyth.”

The actor also confessed he loves Rummers, saying he was “sure I’ve seen plenty of you in Rummers, and composure is not the name of the game.”

The “desperately single” film star loved being back in his hometown, and was even hoping to pull.

He said: “To set the record straight, 2014 has been a quiet year for female attention.

“If there is any extra attention will you please let me know? I am desperately single.”

He began his acting career on the stage where the hit movie was screened.

He said: “I love theatre, this very stage is where I started acting when I played the artful Dodger in Oliver, but as I’m at home I’ll level with you – it pays fuck all.”

The stunts were all Taron and Colin’s own work, too: “Basically Matthew Vaughn is completely mental.

“Anything where it really really looks like we’re risking our lives is a stunt double, everything else is us.

“All of the fights are me, all of the underwater scenes are me.”

There is an adorable pug in the film called JB, and when asked if he misses the dog, Taron had one response: “That fucking dog.”

He added: “George, as he’s known, is very pretty and very cute, but he is not obedient.

“I’ve suffered urine, I’ve suffered anarchy and all manners of craziness with that bloody dog.

“They say don’t work with animals and children, and I’m sure children are tolerable, but don’t ever work with a pug.”

The superstar even has his next starring role lined up – he’s set to feature in a film with Hugh Jackman, where he plays ski jumper Eddie the Eagle and Jackman is his coach.

“I’m excited to work with Hugh. Oh he’s gorgeous, and he’s got arms like tree trunks.”

But he’s still gushing from working with Colin Firth: “I. Love. Colin Firth. More than life itself.

“He is bloody gorgeous and a great film actor, he really is my guy.”

He’s even saved Colin’s number in his phone as “Colly Wobbles… but no one tell him”.
