Bestival will move to a smaller location because people don’t want to go anymore

It’s now going to be in Dorset

Bestival have confirmed on Facebook that they are moving location from the Isle of Wight to Dorset.

The festival will now be at the much smaller Lulworth Estate, where Camp Bestival is currently held.

Bestival 2016 had a disappointing turn-out, with only 40,000 tickets sold. This was largely blamed on the poor line up featuring Major Lazer, Sean Paul and Wiz Khalifa as headliners, and sound quality problems.

Lulworth Estate’s capacity will be a measly 35,000. The capacity of the old site at Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight was approximately 80,000.

Bestival curator Rob Da Bank wrote on Facebook that next year’s festival already has “an incredible line-up, headliners confirmed and ridiculous new stages and installations coming your way in 2017.”

He added: “Hot off the press – yes Bestival is moving! We can confirm we have submitted a licence application for a new site at the Lulworth Estate in Dorset and we’re super excited about our shiny new Bestival adventure.

“We have an incredible line-up, headliners confirmed and ridiculous new stages and installations coming your way in 2017.

“We remain fully committed to supporting the Isle of Wight through music, charities and projects and will be giving Islanders an exclusive ticket offer for the new site.

“Plus we’re working towards a new event for the Island. Watch this space…”
