Viral photo of Trump supporters walking across an NC bridge isn’t the KKK

The original tweet read, ‘KKK on the bridge in Mebane, NC this morning’

A Twitter user shared a photo this morning that appears to show Trump supporters marching across a freeway bridge. Her caption read, “KKK on the bridge in Mebane, NC this morning,” but there is confusion surrounding what the photo depicts.

The tweet has since garnered over 43,000 retweets and 24k favorites, but the image doesn’t actually show members of the KKK celebrating a Trump victory.

A member of the Mebane Police Department told The Tab the march happened in Burlington, NC, not Mebane, and was “only Trump supporters celebrating his victory,” not members of the Ku Klux Klan.

In fact, the Burlington Times-News reported their team actually interviewed supporters on the bridge Tuesday night, where Trump supporters gathered to wave flags at passing cars.

Snopes also confirmed the image doesn’t show klansmen celebrating the Trump win.
