21-year-old arrested for allegedly raping a woman at V festival
A woman in her 40s was attacked after Saturday night
Laura BellA 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in her 40s at V Festival this weekend.
The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday morning on on the outskirts of the festival.
Over 50,000 people turned up to the two day festival in, in Chelmsford, Essex, featuring Calvin Harris, Sam Smith and Kasabian.
A spokeswoman for Essex Police said: “Police were contacted shortly before 1.30am on Sunday August 23 with reports that a woman in her forties had been raped on the outskirts of the site.
“Officers attended and arrested a suspect on suspicion of rape.”
The man remains in custody being questioned, and inquiries are ongoing.
This incident is one of 41 arrests made at the festival this weekend, others include drug use, ticket touting, and breach of the peace.
